IELTS exam eligibility requirements for Vietnam Students

It is very often that we hear candidates are at crossroads while understanding the eligibility requirements of IELTS, here is some help that will help you to understand.

Each country its own overall band score as eligibility for IELTS. Mostly the applicants take IELTS to study or work in English-speaking nations. Following are the eligibility criteria for different countries in terms of scoring IELTS.

What is the age limit to take up the IELTS examination?

IELTS is a language test simply designed to assess the English language skills of an individual. Therefore, you can take up the examination at any age. However, the minimum age to take up the exam is 16 years. Since June 2015, the minimum age has been lowered to 14 for Canadian citizenship.

How many times can I attempt the IELTS examination?

There are no restrictions on the number of times a candidate can take up the IELTS examination.

Who is eligible to take the IELTS examination?

The IELTS conducting bodies have not set any minimum eligibility criteria to take up the exam and it is not exclusive to any particular gender, race, nationality or religion. Any applicant who wishes to migrate to or pursue their higher education in an English-speaking country can take up the exam. However, candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria set by their educational institution or organisation.

In which countries is the IELTS certification accepted?

The IELTS certification is recognised for educational and occupational purposes in the UK, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, the Netherland, France, Spain, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands and 140 more countries.

IELTS Eligibility Score

Each university and organisation has a different set of eligibility criteria. However, a score of 7.0 band with a  6.5 band score for each section is the commonly accepted minimum score by most of the renowned universities.

How to Register for the IELTS Exam?

STEP 1

Go to IELTS India’s official website (www.ieltsidp.com). Select the IELTS test that you need to take. For example, Computer-delivered IELTS or Pen and paper-based IELTS, etc. Fill out the other two fields by choosing the IELTS test type that is, IELTS Academic or IELTS General Training. Choose your preferred test city and click on ‘Book Now’.

STEP 2

In this step, you are required to pick a date on which you can take your IELTS exam from the available dates for booking. The dates available will appear in green colour and your selected date will appear in black. Review your chosen date and click on ‘Book Now’

STEP 3

Read the IELTS terms and conditions and click on ‘Accept’ to continue.

STEP 4

Next up, fill out all your personal details and then submit.

Further fill out more registration details such as your address, your reason for taking the IELTS, occupation, nationality, first language, etc.

STEP 5

Upload the first and last page of your passport copy in JPG, JPEG, PNG, and PDF with a maximum file size of up to 1 MB.

STEP 6

You now will have the option to add up to 5 recognised organizations that will receive your score either electronically or by post. Also, note that these universities can access your results before you receive them by mail. The next step is to review your application, check for mistakes and inconsistencies.

STEP 7

Go ahead and pay the IELTS registration fee for booking your test successfully and voila you just registered for your IELTS exam.
